Debuting Artist: Robin Radar
Robin takes the stage with OpenStage for the first time in The Merry Wives of Windsor!

Please tell us a bit about your background and how you got into theatre!
I started doing theatre in elementary school as its always been something that has seemed so cool to me. I got more into it in high school and decided I wanted to spend the rest of my life pursuing it.
How did you first hear about OpenStage, and what drew you to work with us for this show?
I’ve always wanted to be a part of a Shakespeare show since I’ve never been in one before, although I’ve always been a little worried because it’s so important for the history of theatre. This show was the perfect way for me to be introduced to Shakespeare since we’ve added a lot of elements of recent pop culture, its helped me feel closer to the material.
What is your role in this show, and what excited you most about working on this particular production?
I play Fenton and I am always really excited to hear audience feedback of how they enjoyed our show!
What has been the most enjoyable or unexpected part of the rehearsal process so far?
For me the cast and crew for this show have all been so welcoming and kind and I’m so thankful that I get to work with them all!
What has been the most challenging part of bringing this character to life?
Definitely understanding some of the dialogue in this show since it is Shakespearian.
What makes this show a unique kind of play to work on?
The outdoor nature of this show really adds to the atmosphere and it’s so cool to have the sunset while we are performing.
Why do you think this show is relevant to audiences now and should be performed today?
This show was the original sitcom, and I think we all need a little more joy and laughter in the world right now so I’m glad this show can provide that for audiences.
What is your favorite moment or scene in the show, and why does it stand out to you?
My favorite scene has to be the final one. There are all kinds of lights and dancing and it’s really awesome to see in person!
If you could swap roles with any other character in this play for a day, who would it be and why?
I honestly think it would be Slender. His character and mine are at odds the whole show and I feel I’ve learned so much from his character by portraying mine that it would be so cool to see the other side of it.
What is your favorite play and/or musical, and why?
My favorite musical has to be Legally Blonde. It tells such a complex story in such an easily palatable way that really speaks to me. Plus, there isn’t a single bad song in it, in my opinion.
What is your favorite role you’ve played in the past? Why was that role special to you?
My favorite role definitely has to be Barry Glickman from The Prom. He is just such a lively character and total mess that really finds himself by the end of the show and i love that.
Is there a dream role or type of production you hope to work on in the future?
It’s so hard to choose but three of my dream roles are The Squip in Be More Chill, Marvin from Falsettos, and Emmett from Legally Blonde.
What do you like to do in your free time (when you’re not working on theatre projects)?
I love to play volleyball, hangout with friends, and play video games!
