Taylor takes the stage for the very first time with OpenStage in Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night!

Headshot for Taylor Brotherton

Tell us about yourself! What training or other theatre experiences did you have before working on this show?

Over the last five years I have studied theatre in New York, Chicago and right here in Fort Collins. My love for improv comedy has taken me to The Second City, iO Chicago, and the Annoyance Theatre as well as The Brooklyn Comedy Collective in New York, where I studied musical improv. I’ve also studied Musical Theatre at Colorado State University under some life-changingly excellent professors.

What is something you spend your free time doing, outside of theatre?

I live with a bunch of my best friends and we spend our time watching movies, eating good food, and playing canasta.

How did you hear about OpenStage? What compelled you to audition for this show?

I’ve been coming to see OpenStage productions for a few years now. After seeing my colleagues from Colorado State do such great work here, I knew I had to be a part of it.

What has been your favorite part of rehearsals so far?

My favorite part of rehearsal has been working with this awesome cast. Everyone is so talented and supportive! I really look forward to coming to rehearsals every day.

What has been the most challenging aspect of rehearsals for this show?

The most challenging part of the rehearsal process so far has been the language! This is my first Shakespeare show and learning this script has been a different beast entirely.

What is your favorite character from the show (other than your own)? Why is that one your favorite?

My favourite character in this show has got to be Fabian. I love how he is really just out to cause trouble, and Marin, who is always hilarious, plays him with such fun energy. I’m always excited to see what’s gonna go down when Fabian gets involved.

Why is Twelfth Night important? What do you hope audiences will get out of it?

I think Twelfth Night is important because I really believe that the best part of life is laughing with the people you love. I hope this show makes you laugh like it does for me.

Come see Taylor take the stage in “Twelfth Night” June 8- July 13!

In a rambunctious story of hidden identities and misplaced love, the witty, resourceful, and inventive Viola turns tragedy and loss into a life-changing experience for herself and everyone she touches. Shipwrecked in a strange new land, this charming woman proves to be equally charming disguised as a man as she manages to throw the collective romantic life of the island into further disarray. In a place where everyone is in love with someone, but no one is in love with the someone who loves them back, Viola may just be the soul to set them right. Full of humor and hijinks, Twelfth Night showcases a whirlwind of unbridled passion and embraces the insanity of love. Walk in, bike in, or drive in! Featuring nightly food trucks.
